Pike & Western Wine Merchant
in the Pike Place Market
Our Friday afternoon tastings give you the opportunity to try three new wines every week. Our selections are eclectic and change every week. We pour from 3-6pm, and there is a $5 charge (tax included). Of course if you are a Pike and Western Wine Club member or in the Soul Wine Society there is no charge
These tastings are a unique, informal way to taste more wines and learn about them from our staff. We hope you can join us.
Our theme tastings are geared for a general audience; you don't need to be a wine expert to attend. We try hard to present you wines, and sometime wine people that you may not see at other shops because we are big proponents if vinous diversity!
Our tastings are casual, stand up affairs of up to 30 people. We have plenty of staff on hand to answer questions, whether about the evening's wines or any wine questions you might have.
To reserve your spot at a Theme Tastings, complete the form below. Hope to see you here at the shop.
Many of you know of our love for the wines imported by Neal Rosenthal. As we have increased our sales of his wines we are being offered more of his "gems" wines that, I think he sells primarily to restaurants in his major markets. To my mind one of his strengths is in what I call "affordable, quality Burgundy". These are wines from small producers, often from lesser known appellations, that can compete with better known, much more expensive producers from a more "glamourous" appellation.
Last year we debuted the wines of Domaine Henri Prudhon of Sain Aubin and sold out quite quickly. We have been given the opportunity again to showcase these wines, giving you the first, and maybe only, opportunity to buy these wines in the Seattle market. Allen Meadows, of the publication Burghound, has called Prudhon "possibly the most under-rated producer in all of Burgundy" The domaine is in Saint-Aubin, which abuts three of the most well-known villages in Burgundy: Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, and Chassagne-Montrachet, but receives far less attention, making these real values in the world of quality Burgundy.
So, if you are a Burgundy lover (we will taste 4 whites and 2 reds) I urge you to sign up quickly, space is limited to 20 people.
