Les Perles Piquepoul 2009
You don't really need a reason or a season to drink Piquepoul (indigenous grape varietal from the south of France). For example, in the Languedoc, during winter, this minerally and sharply focused beverage is consumed (in moderation, of course) with oysters from the Etang de Thau, and during summer, in Provence, its citrus flavors pair perfectly with grilled, wild caught sardines from the shores of Marseille. The beauty of living in the Pacific Northwest is that I can re-create all these fond gastronomic memories: excellent oysters from the Sound and fresh sardines from the Pacific Ocean. And the pike Place market is well supplied with all of the culinary necessities. Have fun grilling and pique-niquing...santé!!
