mas de gourgonnier 2007 – Les Baux de Provence
Coincidentally this wine is organic as well. In fact, to use the appellation Les Baux de Provence, the wine must be produced from biodynamically grown fruit, the only such appellation in France. There’s a bit of a rustic, wild quality to this wine that I loved. It’s bursting with fruit that reminds of ripe plums, yet it is not heavy (it’s listed @ 12.5% alcohol). Under that fruit is a spice that reminds me of the wild sage that is everywhere in this part of France, some call it ‘garrigue’ but what ultimately won me over was the sheer drinkability of this wine; the bottle disappeared all too quickly.
