Long Shadows Poets Leap Riesling 2008
There are a lot of people out there that are too embarrassed to admit liking riesling. Maybe because sweet drinks are the common gateway to the adult beverage world and to enjoy one now would imply a lack of palate maturity and therefore a lack of palate sophistication. Egad!!! Not enjoying what you truly enjoy is the real lack of maturity. Riesling can produce some of the world’s most amazing white wines and Washington is one of the best regions for this grape. It’s such a good region for it that Armin Diel of the Nahe region in Germany comes to our state to help produce this incredible wine. Almost dry, this wine has bright peachy stone fruits laced with minerality and a hint of lime leaf. And if you’re concerned about sweetness, the best part about this wine is that it has amazing balancing acidity that it barely shows any sweetness at all. Image restored…phew!
